We are only interested in your answers to personal questions, like your gender or cultural background, if you are ok with telling us. We ask these questions to assist us to work with Participants to select the people they want and need to support them. Often, a person has a preference to be supported by someone from a particular gender – just like people sometimes prefer to be supported by a person from their own language group, culture or ethnic background. There are scenarios where the impact of trauma makes the matching of gender roles particularly important, just as there are certain personal care requirements which are appropriate for either male or female support workers. The personal answers you choose to provide will not preclude you from being considered for a role – you will only be considered on your competence and ability to do the job.
