Community Supports FAQs

What are mainstream and community supports?

Mainstream supports are services that are available to everyone in the community, regardless of disability. These can include things like public transport, libraries, and parks.

Community supports are specifically designed for people with disabilities and are often provided by non-profit organisations or government agencies. Examples include social groups, respite care, and supported accommodation. CSBS will gladly help you connect with various activities in your community.

What types of community supports are funded by the NDIS?

The NDIS can fund a wide range of community supports, including:

  • Assistance with Social & Community Participation
  • Supported employment
  • Supported accommodation
  • Respite care
  • Transport assistance

How do I change my NDIS plan to include new community supports?

To add new supports to your NDIS plan, you'll need to have a discussion with your Plan Manager or LAC. They can help you assess your needs, identify suitable providers, and update your plan accordingly.

How does CSBS offer community supports?

We offer a range of community supports tailored to individual needs. Guided by the person-led approach to providing supports we work alongside our participants to ensure they feel empowered. If your goals include greater community participation, new hobbies,  and much more CSBS will work with you to see it happen.
