Thriving together in a COVID-19 futureCommunities play an important and fulfilling part in our lives.
We welcome the new year with our revitalised commitment to make a positive difference in the lives of people with disability, their families, and support networks.
With so much change and uncertainty, it’s important that we can rely on each other for support as we navigate through the impacts of COVID-19 in our communities and in particular, how we manage the impact it has on the lives of people with disability.
Our primary focus is, and has always been, on the safety and wellbeing of the people we support.
In late 2021, the Queensland Government issued the Public Health Directive to mandate COVID-19 vaccinations for disability workers, which applied to workers who provide supports to people with disability, through an NDIS package. We have followed this, and all other lawful public health directives, and over this period have led an internal campaign to ensure our workforce is now fully vaccinated, and health and hygiene rules are implemented at all times when providing supports and services.
We know that more challenges will present themselves over the coming months and we will work collaboratively with the people we support, their families and Nominees to develop COVID safe plans to ensure ongoing support if people are impacted by the virus.
Our goal is to continue to provide high quality supports to people despite the challenges that COVID-19 has brought to all of our lives. At times we may be challenged by having a reduced workforce, or by the fact that some of the people we support will have the virus – at all times we will work collaboratively with everyone involved so services and supports continue with as little disruption as possible.
